What is a link page template?
| A link page template is a file on your hard disk that tells ARELIS how to create the actual link pages.
| It's a text file that contains the HTML code for one or more web pages. In addition, it contains some variables (placeholders) to display the number of links, the category names, pictures, etc.
| You can adjust the HTML code of the link page template file so that the created link pages perfectly match the design of your other web pages. However, you should open link page templates files only with a text editor because HTML editors cannot understand the format and could destroy the link page template file.
What does ARELIS do with the link page templates?
| When ARELIS creates your link pages, it will take the template file and it will replace the variables with the information you enter in ARELIS.
| For example, you have entered the categories "Cars", "Tires" and "Gas" in the ARELIS main window. When you click the "Create Link Pages" button, then ARELIS will use the variables in the template file and it will create link pages with the categories "Cars", "Tires" and "Gas". ARELIS will also insert the links you've entered in ARELIS in the appropriate categories.
| That means that ARELIS will automatically convert the information you enter in ARELIS into real web pages. If you change the link texts or the category names in ARELIS, it will change the link pages accordingly, the next time you create them with ARELIS.
| A link page template is not associated to special categories or link texts. It only contains variables (placeholders) that will be replaced by the real category and link information when you create your web pages.
| How do I create a link page template?
| When you click the Create Links Pages button and select the "Create new template" option, ARELIS guides through a few easy steps to help you to quickly create a link page template in the design of your web site.
