Getting started
Welcome to ARELIS, the award-winning reciprocal links solution! ARELIS is short for "Axandra's Reciprocal Links Solution". With ARELIS you will get:

In short, ARELIS works like this:
| 1. | ARELIS finds potential link partners automatically for you.

| 2. | You decide to whom you want to link to.
|
| 3. | ARELIS creates customized link pages for you that contain links to the collected and approved link partners so that other people have a reason to link back to you. You upload these pages to your server.
|
| 4. | ARELIS helps you to email the webmasters of other sites to ask them for a link back to your site.
|
| 5. | The other webmasters link back to your site and your site benefits from increased traffic, higher search engine rankings (because of higher link popularity), more customers and more sales.

1. The main window
The ARELIS main window is divided into three parts:
a) The project toolbar
| A project contains all information about the reciprocal links for a single domain. So if you manage the links for only one domain, you need only one project, if you manage the links for two domains, you need two projects, etc. Each project can have an unlimited number of links, categories and sub categories. The buttons let you add, duplicate, edit and remove projects.

b) The web site list
| In the middle of the main window, you can see the web site list. It contains the URLs, the descriptions and some other information of your (potential) link partners. These are the web sites that could link to your site.
|
| If you want to include a web site in your link pages, click the "Include in Link Pages" checkbox in the corresponding row. You should also categorize the web sites so that you'll get an easy to navigate and clear link directory.
|
| The more link partners you have, the more categories you should use. Categories and sub categories ensure that your link pages contain only related links and your link partners will find your link to their site on a web page with links that are related to their site. That makes your link to them more valuable.
|
| The "Search" box above the list allows you to search for special link partners. The "List height" menu allows you to specify the height of the list.
|
c) The preview browser
| The preview browser is located in the lower part of the main window. It works just like a normal web browser. Click the URL of a web site in the list to view its web page in the preview browser. This helps you to quickly decide which web sites are worth asking for a reciprocal link.

| To get further information about a potential link partner, click the Alexa, AllTheWeb or Yahoo buttons in the preview browser. They allow you to quickly find out how many web sites link to a site, how much traffic the site receives and who owns the site.
|
2. How to find potential link partners with ARELIS
To find new potential link partners, click the "Find new link partners..." button in the main window. The button will open the following window:

ARELIS offers you three options in that window:
Find web sites that link to your competitors
| Web sites that link to your competitors are sites that should link to your site. Choose this option to find web sites that link to your competitors.
|
Find web sites by keyword search
| ARELIS can find new web sites with the help of search engines. ARELIS can use several search engines at once, it can filter links by country and it will automatically remove duplicate links. ARELIS will also automatically ignore web sites that you've previously deleted from the list.
|
Find web sites that already link to you
| Choose this option to find out which web sites already link to you. This feature works only with web sites that are indexed by search engines.

Choose an option, click the "Next" button and follow the instructions in the window. ARELIS will then find potential link partners for you.
Note that in the demo version, ARELIS will only find 100 potential link partners. To remove this limitation, you must purchase an unlock code.
3. How to edit found web sites / What to do next
ARELIS has found web sites that could possibly link to your site. The list now contains possible link partners that could drive a lot of targeted traffic to your site. This would also increase the link popularity of your web site and it would improve your search engine ranking.
Now click the URLs of the found web sites and visit the sites in the preview browser one after the other. If you think that a web site could be a good link partner, click the "Include in Link Pages" checkbox and choose a category name. This will place a link to that web site in your link directory.
Note: Linking to a site first greatly increases your chances that the web site will link back to your site.

4. How to create your link pages
When you've collected enough web sites for your link pages, click the "Create Link Pages" button. The following window will appear:
Choose a template file for your link pages and click the Create Link Pages button to finally create the link directory. Upload the directory to your Internet server. You need an FTP application to upload your web pages to your server. If you don't have one, you can use the freeware application SmartFTP.
Place a link on your home page (or any other page) to the link directory page so that your visitors and link partners can access the link directory page.
We strongly recommend to create your own link page template. This way, you can adjust the link directory design so that it matches the design of your web site.
5. Asking for reciprocal links
You've found possible link partners and your link directory links to those web sites. Now ask them if they want to place a reciprocal link to your web site. This will get you targeted traffic from similar sites.
Switch to the "Send Email Message" panel (at the bottom of the main window).
Enter the necessary information for the email message. Right from the "Replace message with this template" text, you can choose an email message template for your first link request mail. Mail templates are simple text files that contain variables. Those variables, for example "<<recipient-URL>>", are automatically replaced by ARELIS. The "Insert Variable" popup menu allows you to quickly insert your company name, the recipient URL, the link text, etc.
Change the template text so that the web site owner knows that you've really visited his or her web site. You can edit the mail templates by clicking the Edit Mail Templates button.
6. Watch the traffic come
That's all there is to it. While you're waiting for the webmasters to answer your link requests, you can let ARELIS find new possible link partners for you (see step #2 above). Or take the time to edit the link directory templates so that your link directory fully matches the design of the rest of your web site.
